We already had solar from a company that went out of business. We hired Sunstate Solar to install a battery back up on the existing system. It was a complex job and Sunstate aced it. There were also permitting issues left from the original solar installer that Sunstate solved. I think these guys are awesome and highly recommend them.

Wanted to take time to thank Glenn and his wonderful company and employees for their work on our solar panels. We never owed more than the PNM $4.77 throughout the summer---They gave us exactly what we needed, no headaches, no delays, and amazing assistance with the tax credit(s).Thank you. So happy we did it with SunState Solar!!! 100% Recommended

This very hands-on engineer gives Sun State Solar 5 stars and a hearty recommendation! After a lot of study, I finally committed to my first home solar system. I chose Sun State after finding they were close by and after paying them a visit. I found a 'boutique' level of installer, not too big, not too small, with great reviews. We wanted a battery-backup solar system, because what's the point of investing in solar if you can't get power from your solar system if the power is off? With energy storage in batteries, our system will kick over to the house being powered by the batteries and the inverter... in milliseconds.By adding batteries, the requirements of and scrutiny by PNM increased. Sun State dealt patiently with them, even when they were sometimes being unreasonable. We had a very good system design, but were forced fall back on a system that PNM was more familiar with. Both good systems, so it worked out.Regarding system design, I chose 'whole-house' over 'critical-load.' The two options are wired differently. The latter would have required a third breaker panel on top of my existing two. Also, with my electrical experience, I wanted to manage battery-solar loads myself, either by not using certain appliances, or by turning off breakers so they can't be used.A method I have used before is to put a black dot with a Sharpie by every breaker that represents a minimum capability when the power goes off. That way I can shut off everything but the minimum critical loads in a power-down situation, then later add or subtract loads as desired.PNM required a separate recording meter, but that turned out to be a nice feature as it counts up the solar system's kWh contribution and display's that separately, grid up or down. We're pleased with the hardware we ended up with: Solar Edge inverter, Solar Edge automatic disconnect, and Solar Edge batteries. High quality, not 'budget', hardware. The Solar Edge app is also very good at collecting and displaying data, and providing alerts. When the Bernalillo County inspector came, I was there both times, and he said when I said, "These guys are good!", "Yes, they did a really nice job."Photos of roof hardware, panel array, etc, not provided so as to not disclose location.

I've been a full-time REALTOR® in Albuquerque for 9 years, and I haven't known a good solar inspection company until now! SunState Solar did a great job inspecting the solar panels and equipment that were installed by a company that went out of business. The report we got was very thorough. Thankfully the system is still working well for my friends who are buying the property, but some maintenance is needed, and Ian explained all that and was very helpful. Thanks!

We knew very little about installing rooftop solar when we started considering a rooftop system. We ended up seeking numerous bids from both in-state and out of state providers. We are extremely happy that we chose SunState to install our system and do an electrical upgrade. From start to finish the entire team was professional, extremely knowledgeable and experienced. Glen was very helpful at the start when we were seeking bids. His bid was reasonable and fair and we were very happy to be able to select a local provider that could offer responsive and dependable service and first rate products. The installation team of Jayson, Alex and Ian were happy to answer all our questions and concerns and were genuinely excited about helping us however they could. They went out of their way to get our project completed. Finally when it came to the paperwork and getting the tax credit application completed Ashlea was able to oversee the entire process and guide us through a fairly complicated process. We whole heartedly recommend SunState to go solar. Pat and John/Santa Fe

The whole team at SunState Solar are great communicators. Glenn was patient with us while we ran the numbers and gathered other quotes. Jason and Ian both communicated the next steps in the process. I think our choice to go with the Maxeon panels is already paying off. We chose them because of the quality and the warranty. Shop local. Choose SunState. Do not hesitate.

I had such a positive experience with Sun State Solar. The owner, Glen, walked me through the entire process, explained all aspects of the work and costs, and was able to interpret all my questions(!).I especially appreciated that the company handled all the permitting and inspections. They were so professional and thorough. The crew that did the actual installation was amazing! They were so skilled and fast. And, respectful. And they had a sense of humor with my hovering.Would I recommend this company? Without reserve.

We had a great experience with SunState Solar. We needed someone to remove and reinstall the panels for a roof repair. Good communication, showed up on time for both appointments, very pleasant and efficient. Good to know there is someone reliable out there.

I can't express enough how much I loved my experience with SunState Solar. I had solar installed on my home 16 years ago, and that company has since gone out of business. Sunstate came over and fixed the broken panels and got it operational again. Then we built a casita and added solar to that building. Sunstate was in constant communication and ensured every step of the way we knew what was happening. If I could give them a 10 star rating I would.

I searched for a solar company for about a year before finding SunState. I had multiple companies who came to my door. They were not local and it was tough finding info on them and reviews. With SunState I found info and reviews online easily and I contacted them and Glenn and his team helped us the whole way through and we could always contact them if we had questions. So far we have been very satisfied with our solar.

For a much needed roof replacement SunState Solar removed and reinstalled my solar panels. I have been up and running with no problems since they were reinstalled. When they reinstalled the panels they also added a bird/animal barrier to the panel system. No more will I find bird nests or signs of having a raccoon residing underneath my panels. I am quite pleased with their work and the barrier, the barrier looks great, gives the panel system a sleek look. 5 stars to SunState Solar!

We chose Sun State Solar based upon their reputation and the advice from many neighbors who had used them. Needless to say we made a great choice. Their pricing was competitive and their service was excellent. From signing the contract through turning the system on they kept us informed with every step. They also helped us through all of the paperwork required to get the NM state tax credit. We wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone considering a solar system. Thanks Glenn and Jeremy and the rest of the Sun State team.

SunState installed a 12 panel system on my roof, and also did an electrical upgrade. Glenn helped me determine a good size for the project and clearly communicated the timeline throughout the city and state approval and installation. Jeremiah and Jayson completed the install with no problems, and Jeremy helped me with the tax paperwork for the state tax credit. I highly recommend SunState to any homeowner looking to install solar.

SunState has been a great partner in providing solar to our home! We got multiple quotes from various solar providers and decided to go with SunState because of their commitment to customer service and the no-pressure sales experience. They outlined what our system would look like and answered all our questions without a hitch. After the install they were kind enough to provide and walk us through all of the tax incentives and subsequent paperwork. We’ve been enjoying an $8 PNM bill for several months and have no regrets!

- I received three quotes for solar and SunState came in the most affordable by several thousand dollars.- The customer service was excellent. This was true both before install and after (my inverter needed a firmware update, which SunState implemented within several hours of me reaching out).- I am highly impressed by SunState and I would recommend them to anyone looking for solar.

I'm very happy with my decision to go with SunState. Like others interested in solar, I received multiple bids for my project. I chose SunState because two of my neighbors went with them and had good things to say about them, and I wanted to support a small, growing company. Glenn is definitely involved in all aspects of the business, and you know who you're talking to when you call SunState, as opposed to Customer Service for a large company. Glenn accommodated my desire to "hide" my system by mounting the panels in the back of my house and running the conduit through the attic. You can't tell from the street that I even have solar, which was esthetically important to me. The information Jeremy provided for applying for the state tax credit was super helpful and easy to follow. One of the large companies that bid my project tried to scare me into believing SunState was a risky choice as a relative newcomer while touting their longevity as a business. But SunState is so well run that I have confident they will be around for many, many years to come. I highly recommend SunState to anyone considering solar.
Solar is a dangerous market when it comes to efficiency, quality, and price point. Some companies will follow through and do a fantastic job, but will charge a lot. Most companies will charge a lot of money as you're playing for two services, the solar company, and a sales company.I shopped around a fair amount, and initially dealt with a different company before settling on SunState.Sunstate is both the solar and sales, which means I'm not spending extra just to fulfill some salesman's vacation bonus.I met with Glenn, found him very competent, knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and to the point. Both he, and Jeremy, have gone out of their way in dealing with my desires to add and subtract elements to my solar, price points, etc. All until we finalized and settled on a final build.SunState is a very solid company, very fair prices, and they keep tabs on solar equipment and upgrades as they come into the market. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the panels and array, and the installation process. Everything went silky smooth and in great time, especially considering the heavy flow in the market. They're very punctual, they keep good tabs on everything in lieu of the progress of the project to keep me updated and aware of what is and isn't going on and what I have left to do. If I have any updates to my system, I will be more than happy to call them to expand on it.

I really did my research before choosing SunState Solar for our home. I chose to meet with only local NM companies and only companies that had been given a personal recommendation by someone I knew. Of all the companies I considered, I got the largest number of positive recommendations about SunState.A couple of the other companies I spoke with also seemed professional and capable, but Glenn was the person who had the most knowledgeable, thorough, patient, and down-to-earth approach. I didn't feel pressured by him and I was grateful to have the owner of the company visit my home because I trusted that he was invested in me having a great experience! Also, I appreciated that he took so much time to design a system that really met our specific needs and didn't try to oversell me on something huge (which I did encounter with another salesman). Through the entire process Glenn proactively reached out to check in, answer my questions, and reassure me before I even expressed concerns. Isai, who led the installation was professional and a terrific communicator who gave us regular reports about his progress. Also, the biggest relief came when Jeremy saved us HOURS of work by preparing the vast majority of the NM tax rebate paperwork on our behalf. This was amazing because our life is bananas and I'm not sure I would have gotten around to deciphering and completed the multi-step process on my own!!I'm very pleased by the terrific experience we had with SunState and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to support a local New Mexico business that is working hard to deliver skilled and exceptional service.

I had SunState Solar install a system on my house about a year and half ago. I waited this long to make sure it all worked great and there was no surprises. There was two small problems soon after the install that were frustrating at the time, but insignificant in the grand scheme of things. The company fixed them super fast and I have had no problems since then. I got what I paid for, great service, great panels, and I am paying hundreds a year less on electricity! Blazing hot sunny days make me happy now! Highly recommend, very much a 5 star company!
